In this article, I am going to talk about transcending your beliefs, but before I tell you that, let me tell you a story that’s related to this very same topic…
And that’s the story of an elephant in a circus…
Once a circus came to a town to great joy and welcome of the town’s people. People especially enjoyed the performance of the animals in the circus…
Among the animals, there was an elephant displaying feats of strength.
During a day, a passerby noticed the same elephant was standing on the circus ground…
The man asked the handler how come such a strong elephant is not kept in a cage. The handler pointed to a small rope tied to one of elephant’s legs…
The man said with surprise: “How is it that such a strong elephant can’t break loose from such a tiny rope?”
The handler responded: “He can break loose easily, but he doesn’t believe he can. We have tied him to the same rope ever since he was just little baby elephant. He couldn’t break away back then. He grew stronger as he grew up but his belief stayed the same. He doesn’t even try anymore.”
It’s not only important to have a strong belief to manifest your desires, but also you have to constantly expand your beliefs.
As you improve your capabilities, you must do the same with your belief.
Your old beliefs might have been helpful in getting you what you desired in the past, with your past capabilities. As you become wiser and stronger, you must believe in greater things. Otherwise, you will always be tied down to the limitations of your past.
So, every once in a while, take a moment and take stock of your current capabilities, resources, knowledge, and more importantly, your beliefs. Perhaps, it’s time to re-examine your beliefs.
Beliefs are like attractors that push you to enhance your capabilities to achieve greater things. So they must always be way above what you are capable of doing. Once you have achieved your desire, you must elevate your belief to keep it above your existing capabilities, or else you will be stagnant and tied down.
The Motivation for Greater Things
Apart from capabilities, greater goals and desires generate the much needed motivation for the effort. Your desires in the past created great excitement for you – enough motivation to move you to expand your capabilities. But once you achieve your goals, your motivation wanes. You now need greater goals to create the same motivation – the motivation that’d push you to learn new things.
You see the circle now, right?
And it all starts with your belief as the catalyst.
Isn’t empowering that all you need to kickstart your path to success is in your hand in the form of your belief?
Of course that belief has to be a “true belief”, as explained in previous articles. True believing is a subconscious one that comes in the form of an expectation.
So expand your expectations as you improve your qualifications, or you will be tied down forever despite your strengths.
