Hope you are enjoying every day, “now”, no matter what has happened in the past…
Why would I mention the “past”?
Because a lot of people (and I mean a lot) keep mentioning to me how what happened to them in the past has affected them and still keeps hurting them…
For a moment, imagine there was a tool that would locate every negative experience in your brain and erase them; remove them like you would erase the spots on a white clean board.
How would you feel then?
Very refreshing, to say the least… that’s what Alexander Pope called “An Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind”.
Well, this tool actually does exist!
Let me explain…
Imagine someone cuts in front of you while you are driving. If the guy who does this is a punk listening to loud music with no respect for others, that makes you real angry, doesn’t it?
but if he or she is someone who is grabbing the steering wheel struggling to drive through traffic, you wouldn’t be that angry about that behavior.
So the source of the anger and hurt feeling is not really the act of “cutting in front of you”, but the “intention” you assigned to it…
Now, if you can change that “meaning” and “intention” you assigned to what has happened to you, you can completely change everything… I guarantee that!
Sometimes we set real high expectations of others and when they do something hurtful we are hurt, especially when we think they did it intentionally rather than due to ignorance…
Wishing you a spotless and shining mind,
Eric
